Innovation, in book format for your summer

The summer holidays can last a long time or fly by, but there is no doubt that there is free time to tackle those readings for which we never find the time. And what better than to take advantage of these immersion periods to educate ourselves and learn about important topics such as innovation in all its aspects.

On any page or at any time you can find that idea or that necessary impulse to deploy your innovative project, so we present you with several suggestions that can broaden your vision of the world.

‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’

A classic among classics on innovation. Peter F. Drucker is considered the father of modern management as we understand it today, and he wrote nearly forty books on business. In ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’, he breaks with the paradigm of innovation as inspiration, and writes about entrepreneurial strategy and innovation applied to all areas of work. For Drucker, innovation is an act of practice and discipline, and despite being published in 1986, his work is still very much relevant today.

‘Moonshot thinking. Transform disruptive innovation into an opportunity’

This book was one of the great novelties of 2021. Its author, Ivan Bofarull, analyses how disruption is the new normal, and the impetus needed to embark on a transformative journey. With moonshot thinking, technology is used to propose a radical solution to a big problem, and the use of this methodology allows the organisation’s vision of innovation to be broadened (only available in Spanish).

‘Work Disrupted: Opportunity, Resilience, and Growth in the Accelerated Future of Work’

This handbook by Jeff Schwartz discusses the post-Covid-19 global scenario. The pandemic has created new scenarios, different mindsets, different strategies… and innovation is one of the ways to deal with them. Schwartz accompanies the reader on this journey of uncertainty and gives advice and data to face the new paradigms at work and in society in general with serenity.

‘The innovator’s solution’

In this book, companies can learn to be an engine of disruption. According to the theory of the authors, Clayton M. Christensen and Michael E. Raynor, innovation is predictable and controllable. The innovator’s solution looks at two types of fields: sustained innovation, which modifies or adds to something that already exists, and disruptive innovation, which changes everything dramatically. Readers will learn about the processes that create successful innovation and how to adapt their strategies to changing circumstances.

‘The metaverse and how it will revolutionize everything’

We conclude these recommendations with the metaverse, a term that everyone is talking about, but very few know what it really is. Matthew Ball dissects this emerging phenomenon in his book, and according to him it is an interconnected network of 3D virtual worlds that will end up being the gateway to many online experiences. He also delves into what it takes to build the metaverse and what it means for us, so if you want to stay up to date, don’t miss out!
