Following the closure of the 2014-2021 period, 2022 has been a year of deployment of the main programmes that the European Commission makes available for innovation in Europe. These are some of the most important programmes that have contributed with million Euros to boosting disruptive technology in strategic sectors for Europe. We have gathered in this article the projects with more funding from the main EU programmes, and the fundamental areas in which they are being implemented.
Horizon Europe projects
Although the programme has recently opened, it has deployed approximately 12,700M€ (62% of total grants given in 2022) to support the implementation of 4,880 innovative projects that have started this 2022, being 52.7% of all the projects funded this 2022. These are the most funded by each area:
In third place one can find it Erasmus programme, which has earmarked 3.4% of the 2022 funds (€689 million) to finance 1,291 projects under this cross-border education programme.
It is worth highlighting the more than €500 million that this programme has invested to foster the development of almost 180 projects focused in the areas of cloud computing, education, and training.
We close this top 5 with the LIFE programme, the main European environmental initiative, which has distributed almost €300 million to enable the implementation of 170 projects.
2022 has also been a key year in the closure of the H2020 programme, which, although it has already closed its calls programme, has launched approximately 950 projects that will receive funding of more than €760M€. Here are the most outstanding examples.
