Digital Europe is a programme established by the European Union to accelerate the EU’s recovery and boost the digital transformation

This month, the European Commission has launched the first calls of the Digital Europe programme, which aims to accelerate the recovery and boost the digital transformation in the EU. The calls are open to Member State companies, organisations and public administrations, as well as entities from other countries associated to the programme.

These calls represent 415 million euros of investment until the end of 2022. The grants will be allocated to infrastructures, data spaces, artificial intelligence, quantum communication infrastructure, the advancement of people’s digital skills and projects that promote a safer Internet, as well as the fight against child abuse and disinformation.

What is the Digital Europe Programme?

Digital Europe is a programme designed by the European Union, established within the Multiannual Financial Framework, to accelerate recovery and boost digital transformation in Europe, between 2021 and 2027. The programme focuses on five key areas:

  • Supercomputing
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cybersecurity
  • Advanced digital skills
  • Generalisation of the use of digital technologies in all sectors of the economy and in society
